Longtime Owner of the Clifford Lake Inn dies
Dyanne Eipper (“Dy”), age 74, longtime owner of the historic Clifford Lake Inn, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 16th, 2021. Dyanne and her husband Norm, bought the Inn in 1976, after the building had been condemned. Dy and Norm remodeled the Inn, into a popular restaurant/bar with a Bed & Breakfast upstairs. They ran the business for over 34 years with their children Cindy, Steve & Tom. Dy was born in Flint, Michigan and started her life in a small house with no running water. She attended Michigan State University and then took time to travel around Europe. She later moved to Lansing, where she got a job at Eipper Realty, where she met Norm. They have been inseparable ever since. They later bought the property next to the Inn and eventually moved to Clifford Lake in the 1970’s. The rest, as they say, is history. Lots of great memories and stories with family friends, staff, tenants and guests. Dyanne left us with a great memory of her bright smile, enthusiastic attitude and interest in other people. You would regularly see her greeting new visitors and then sitting down and learning everything she could about them. Dy was fun, creative and always had a smile and a positive outlook to share with others. She was also known for her great sense of style in what she wore and how she decorated the Inn and their home.
Dyanne is survived by her children, Cindy (Tim) Caywood of Rockford, Steve Eipper of Stanton, Tom(Carolyn) Eipper of Sarasota, Florida; and her grandchildren, Summer (Cameron) Tahaney, Steve Eipper Jr (Jenna Theisen), Becky (Nick) Galvin, Mitch Caywood, Craig Koelsch, Carly Koelsch, Maria (Tyler)Walker, Megan (Thorin) Lindsey and Cameron Hall.
Dyanne was preceded in death by her husband Norm and her mom, Joyce Law.
A celebration of her life will be held later this summer.
