Dorothy Mae Eggleston

May 31, 1928 — February 17, 2023

Dorothy Mae Eggleston, age 94, of Crystal, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Green Acres of Greenville.

Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Crystal Congregational Church, where she was active with the funeral luncheon and Lions Club meal prep teams. She enjoyed quilting, playing the organ, and tending to her flower garden. Dorothy also liked to clean her house and absolutely loved clean windows. However, what Dorothy loved the most was spending time with her family, especially at the cottage and also at her home during the Christmas season.

A special thank you to Green Acres Assisted Living Facility for keeping her safe, entertained, and well fed during her last two months of living on this planet, and to Hospice of Michigan for providing excellent comfort care. Thank you to Dorothy's neighbors, Brad Stone, Tim & Chris Wilkes, Charlie & Mary Follett, and Russ & Linda White, for watching out for her and providing services when issues popped up. Last but not least to her "favorite" (and only, not including the "greats"), granddaughter Debbie Walcott for taking her out monthly for haircuts, and keeping her pretty for the last several years. It takes a village to raise a child and to care for the elderly.

Surviving Dorothy is her daughter, Robin Miller of Grand Rapids; son, Jim (Kris) Eggleston of Stanton; grandchildren, Dean (René) Horn, Debbie (Mike) Walcott, John (Carrie) Horn, D.J. (Lisa) Blackrick, Ron (Tessa) Miller, Rob (Kelly) Miller, Adam (Nikki) Eggleston, and Jason (Chelsa) Eggleston. Great grandchildren, Kylie, Tyler, Isabel, Joe, Aiden, Brielle, Ashlyn, Ava, Dawson, Gavin, Reid, Avery, Kole, and Adalyn; sister, Linda Connor; brothers, Bob Jones and Paul Jones; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John Eggleston; daughter, Anita Aikens; sister, Margaret Hinton; brother, Wayne Jones; parents, Arthur & Nellie (Bloss) Jones; daughter-in-law, Christa Eggleston; sons-in-law, Ray Horn; Don Aikens; sister-in-law, Carol Jones and brothers-in-law, Arland Conner and Merle Hinton.

A celebration of Dorothy's life is being planned for a later date. For those wanting to make a donation in memory of Dorothy, the family suggests you direct them to the American Cancer Society.
