Dorothy I DeLong (Dorothy I Smith)

Dorothy I. DeLong, age 64, of Walkerville, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor after a 16+ year battle with liver cancer.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, William DeLong; daughter and son-in-law, Brandie & Brian Cogswell of Sheridan; son, Bill Kornoelje of Grand Rapids; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jeana & Eric Krzton of Arkansas; grandchildren, Kadyn Kornoelje, Andrew Kornoelje, Patrick Cogswell, Brandon Cogswell, Jessica Betts, Ricky Betts and two great grandchildren.

Preceding Dorothy in death is her grandson, Nathan J. Page, son of Bill Kornoelje.

Known as a big practical joker, Dorothy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. A very patriotic woman, Dorothy really liked observing and discussing politics, she also enjoyed country music with Toby Keith being her favorite artist, knitting, dancing and horses.

A private Celebration of Life service will be held at her residence at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, those wanting to make a donation in Dorothy’s memory are asked to consider the needs of the family.
