Dean E. Hansen, age 67, of Stanton, died Friday, May 11th 2012. Dean was born in Douglass Township on August 20, 1944, the son of Frank and Nora (Lillie) Hansen, both of whom have preceded him in death. Dean was also preceded in death by one brother, Roger Hansen and “Maddie” the family’s beloved cocker-spaniel, who died on Monday, May 7th, after being a special member of the Hansen family for the past 15 years.
On September 12, 1992, Dean married the former Rhonda Ralph and she survives him along with their daughter; Christena (Chrissy) Hansen of Stanton; Dean’s daughter Lisa & Chuck Bowen of Kentwood and his son, Timothy Hansen of Grand Rapids. Dean is also survived by two grandchildren; Keagon Hansen and Chloe Bowen, one brother; Larry Hansen of Stanton; mother-in-law, Mary Hansen of Stanton; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hansen of Mecosta, one brother-in-law, Roger and Donnell Ralph of Sheridan and David Munger his cousin and closest friend
A former co-owner of Millard Realty and current realtor for Eagle Realty of Edmore. In 1994 Dean was awarded the Realtor-of-the-year by the Montcalm County Board of Realtors and was recognized by the Michigan Association of Realtors in 1995 for that honor. Dean graduated Edmore High School in 1962 where he was a star athlete. Dean had a tremendous sense of humor and was a very good golfer and avid deer hunter with his blind right behind the house. He enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and was the Lions #1 fan, never missing a game. Dean also took great pride in the appearance of his lawn, enjoyed spending time in his hunting room in the barn with his friends and enjoyed taking rides in his truck, which he affectionately called “Jimmy Dean”. He was also famous for grilling the best BBQ hot dogs. Most of all, Dean loved and was very proud of his children and grandchildren and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Father’s Day, June 17th, 2012, at Dean’s home, 4701 Carlson Road, Stanton, beginning at 1:00 P.M.
