David E. Burns, age 66, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, in the comfort of his own home in Stanton.
Dave was an active member of the Stanton American Legion for many years. He enjoyed hunting, watching wrestling, hunting shows, and Mountain Men. Dave was an avid bowler for much of his life and played in several leagues. He loved what his children call “old country music” and had a great sense of humor. More than anything, Dave loved his family; he will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish Dave’s memory is his wife Jody Burns; daughters Melissa (Brad Plath) Weber of Rockford, and Amanda (Terry) Vansconis of Sheridan; son Doug (Sue) Burns of Stanton; grandchildren Jonathan (Krissy), Kailani, Breanna, Xander, Caleb, Aiden, Jude, Rylie, Gabriel, Reese, Cole, and Deacon; sisters Christine Jones, and Dorothy Kushmaul; brothers Art (Phyllis) Burns, and Terry Hyde; and close friends Dennis (Debbie) Hunt, Gus (Debbie) Rios, and Jerry (Donna) Baze.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents Harold & Hazel (Griffin) Hyde; parents-in-law David & Betty Voorhees; grandparents Veral & Pearl Griffin; uncles Art Griffin, and Frank Griffin; cousin Mike Crankshaw; and sister-in-law Norma Nichols.
A visitation will take place on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 10am-12pm at Simpson Family Funeral Home (246 S. Main St.) with a sharing of memories to follow at 12pm.
Those who wish may donate in Dave’s name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
