Obituary for Dale Jacobsen

Dale LaVern Jacobsen, 76, of Fenwick, passed away on Wednesday July 18, 2018 after a hard-fought battle with Pick’s Disease, a form of dementia. Dale was born on February 26, 1942 in Greenville, Michigan.

A jack of all trades and a master of most, Dale loved to go fast! He loved to work on anything with an engine that would give him an adrenaline rush and allow him to spend time with family. Whether it be building Dune Buggies, off road Jeeps, racing snowmobiles or motorcycles, it didn’t matter; as long as it moved! He also loved antique tractors, camping, building houses and woodworking. After working for 39 years at Electrolux and doing just about any job there, from being a supervisor, president of the union, or working in the tool room, he finally retired so he could spend more time doing what he loved, spending time with his family. Dale will be greatly missed.

Surviving Dale is his wife of 20 years, Grace “Mickey” Jacobsen; his children, Debra (Terry) Thomsen of Stanton, David (Denise) Jacobsen of Greenville, Denise (Mike) Higgins of Fenwick, grandchildren; Travis (Katie) Thomsen of Portage, Ryan Thomsen of Arizona, Troy (Julie) Thornburg of Ionia, Chad (Stephanie) Thornburg of Tennessee, Elizabeth Thornburg of Fenwick, Austin (Jessica) Jacobsen of Coopersville, Christopher Jacobsen of Greenville, seven great grandchildren, two step sons; Gerald Perkins of Fenwick and Donald (Karen) Perkins of Ionia, along with many friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Sarah and Hartley Collins.

A celebration of Dale’s life will be on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 4-7pm at Simpson Family Funeral Homes, Sheridan. Those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Dale are asked to consider the Montcalm County Animal Shelter or the Commission on Aging.
