Cleo Johnson, age 83, of Carson City, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Spectrum Health, Blodgett Hospital, Grand Rapids. She was born on December 21, 1927 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Joseph & Lucille (Maples) Yarbrough. Both parents have preceded her in death.
In June 1980, she was married to Lylberne “Jerry” Johnson in Phoenix, Arizona and he has preceded her in death in addition to two grandchildren, Jason Brashears and Sarah Brashears and one brother, Travis Yarbrough.
Surviving are her children, Julia & Ron Harter of Crystal, Byron Brashears of Los Angeles, California and Harold & Joan Brashears of Gautier, Mississippi plus five grandchildren, Alexandra, Aaron, Sharon, David and Dawn, seven great grandchildren, Christopher, Larina, Bailey, Adrian, Josh, Brendan and Maya and a brother, Joseph W. & Inez Yarbrough of Savannah, Tennessee.
Mrs. Johnson has been a longtime resident of Carson City, she was a retired clinical psychologist and is listed in the Who’s Who of the Peace Corp after serving in Kenya from 1971 until 1973.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15th beginning at 2:00 P.M. at the Shiloh Community Church, Orleans, with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating.
The family has suggested for those desiring to do so, that memorial considerations can be made to the Carson City Library, where Cleo enjoyed spending a lot of her spare time.
