Clare V. Brooks, age 73 of Stanton, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.
A lifelong resident of the Stanton area, Clare was a fixture in the community. He was the founder of Brooks Electric which he opened in July of 1982. Clare proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a member of the Stanton American Legion, Sheridan VFW, The Forty & Eight, and the 14th Combat Engineering Alumni. Clare loved being around people, he was quick witted, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Surviving Clare is his wife of 53 years, Sharon Brooks; sons, Greg Brooks of Stanton and Troy (Amy) Brooks of Stanton; grandchildren, Chase Young of Stanton; Jordan (Dallen) Sittser of Grand Rapids; Morgan Wallin of Chicago; Logan Evans of Grand Rapids; Paige Evans of Grand Rapids; great grandchildren, Maddy; Brayden, Jaxon, Annalise and Peyton; brothers, Kipp Brooks of Edmore and Norman (Joyce) Brooks of Stanton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marv & Cheryl Jeffrey of Sheridan; Marlin & Rose Jeffrey of Belding; Alice & Lyle Blaisdell of Stanton; Donna Horn of Stanton; his cousin, lifelong friend, and partner in crime, Larry Cannon; many nieces and nephews, lots of friends and his beloved dog, Harley Mia Brooks.
Clare was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Fern (Partlow) Brooks; three brothers, Jack Brooks; Tony Brooks and Bunky Brooks; grandparents, Ed & Minnie Brooks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Guy & Anna Jeffrey; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Shelby & Russ Waite and special aunts, Helen Hansen and Pat Cook.
Visitation is being held on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar Street) from 5-8 PM.
Funeral services for Clare are being held on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton beginning at 11 AM. Military Honors will be conducted by the Stanton American Legion Honor Guard at a graveside service in Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton.
