Charles Thomas

Charles A. “Chuck” Thomas, age 77, passed away unexpectedly in Greenville on Thursday, May 16, 2013. He was born in Greenville on April 28, 1936, the son of Ernest & Bernice (Thomsen) Thomas. Both parents have preceded him in death.
On June 23, 1963, Chuck was married to the former Kay Cole and she survives in addition to their children, Stacey Thomas of Houston, Texas and Erik & Mary Thomas of Stanton, two grandchildren, Erika Thomas and Rachael Vestergaard, one sister, Jean & Keith Hallock of Ithaca, one brother-in-law and sister-n-law, Bob & Sue Cole of Six Lakes plus his nieces and nephews, Shelley & Clem Cizio, Doug Hallock, Brad & Jodi Hallock, Sandy & Scott Evans, Daryl & Melisa Williams and Amy & Scott Lumbert.
Chuck has been a lifelong resident of Stanton where he formerly owned and operated Thomas Drugs for many years. He was a US Army veteran as well as a member of the First Congregational Church of Stanton, the Stanton Star Lodge F & AM #250, the Stanton Rotary, the Stanton OES #47 and the Michigan Pharmacist Association.
Funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM will be held on Monday, May 20th at the First Congregational Church, Stanton, with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Interment will be at the Forest Hill Cemetery, Stanton.
Visitation with the family will be on Sunday at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
The family has suggested for those desiring to do so that memorial considerations can be made to the First Congregational Church and there will be envelopes available at the funeral and also at the church.

I am sorry to learn of Mr. Thomas’ passing. Around 1983 one of my children needed a prescription and it was on a Sunday. Mr. Thomas met me at the store after church and filled our prescription. It appeared that he was all about small town community service. Something that I have never forgotten about him. Brad King, former funeral director, Simpson Funeral Home, Stanton.
