Charlene "Pinky" Baker

July 1, 1935 — March 14, 2019

Charlene “Pinky” Baker, age 83 of Stanton, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville.

Pinky Baker was someone who didn’t know the meaning of the word lazy and she could make you tired just by watching her work. From before dawn to after dark she was busy getting the job at hand done. A perfectionist by nature, especially when it came to her lawn, Pinky was known throughout the Stanton community as the lady with the immaculate lawn, a reputation which she took great pride in. Pinky worked for 20+ years at Leppinks in Stanton and during that time many wonderful friendships began from both her co-workers and customers. On July 3, 1953 she married the love of her life, Harold Baker and together they raised a family which her world revolved around and whom she was very proud of and loved very much. She was also a tremendous cook and baker. Growing up Pinky and her sister Joyce were inseparable and that continued until Joyce’s death, something Pinky would tell you devastated her. She was a member of the Stanton First Congregational Church and the Stanton American Legion Auxiliary. Pinky also was a bingo fanatic and liked trying her luck at the casinos. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Surviving Pinky are her sons, Jeff (Lesa) Baker of Tampa, Florida; John (Cheryl) Baker of Eagle; Mark (Lori) Baker of Stanton; grandchildren, Derrick, Haley, Carly, Christian; great grandchildren, Chase and Tyler; nieces, Shelly (Rob)Belt of Stanton; Kim (Chris) Putt of Greenville; great nieces and nephews, Britney (Andy); Brooken (Kristina); Dustin; Otis and Quinn.

Pinky is preceded in death by her parents, Rolens & Mildred (Noah) Hansen; her husband of 47 years, Harold Baker; sister, Joyce Lawrence; niece Linda Addis; great nephew, Talin Addis and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
