Carole L. Merithew, age 81, of Fenwick, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant.
As a Registered Nurse Carole helped care for thousands of patients during her 35 plus years at Sheridan Community Hospital. She loved to travel and explore new places, but Mackinaw Island was by far her favorite place to visit. Carole also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and bobbin lace. Her cooking and baking talents in the kitchen never went unnoticed by her family and friends, especially when it came to her white cookies and lemon pies. However, above everything else, Carole loved her family, especially her kids and grandkids.
Surviving Carole are her daughters, Lori Hull of Fenwick; Jill (David) Ouellette of Adrian; son, Mark (Marian) Merithew of Freeland; grandchildren, Rob (Alicia) Shook of Ithaca; Aubree (Jason) Akers of Ashley; Andrew Witter of Grand Rapids; Mattie Merithew of Shelby Township; great grandchildren, Macie; Bryn; Teagan; and Sawyer; sister, Jan Morgan of Ruskin, Florida; sister-in-law, Wanda Wolverton of Lansing.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Orin & Gertrude (Petersen) Thuma; husband, Robert Merithew; sister-in-law, Wilma Dulek; brother-in-law, Vernon Morgan.
Visitation and funeral ceremonies celebrating Carole’s life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the South Sidney Church (5501 W. Muskrat Rd., Sheridan). Visitation is from 11 AM to 12 Noon. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon with Reverend Bob Braman officiating.
