Carol S. Van Horn, 74, of Stanton, passed away at Green Acres of Lowell on Saturday, July 24, 2021, under the loving care of her family and West Michigan Hospice.
Carol was born on October 7, 1946, the daughter of Gordon and Francis Blum. Carol had an adventurous spirit, and she loved a good road trip. She enjoyed reading, gardening, all types of animals, hosting parties, helping with the grandkids and being with her family. She worked for 42 years for Montcalm County, serving many years as the Deputy Treasurer. On October 18, 1980, she married Ken Van Horn, and together they have enjoyed almost 41 years of marriage. After their retirement, Carol and Ken spent 10 years traveling all over the country in their motorhome. She loved to go out west, especially to Montana to the gem mines to try to strike it rich! They enjoyed being on the road, making memories and having fun.
Surviving Carol is her husband, Ken; their children, Malissa (Lloyd) Colvin of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Carla (Dennis) Spanbauer of Lewisville, Idaho, Kendra (Matthew) Raines of Crystal, their grandchildren; Jairod (Richelle) Johnson, Justin Johnson, Kayla Munoz, Chelsey (Josh) Allen, Sidney Spanbauer, Brandon Wale, Ashley Spanbauer, Evan Raines, Emelia Raines, 11 great grandchildren, her sister; Cherie (Dave) Moore, her brothers; Ronald (Judy) Blum, Terry (Annette) Blum, along with many other extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
A time to celebrate Carol’s life will be held on Saturday July 31, 2021, at the Stanton American Legion from 2-5pm. Memorial contributions in memory of Carol may be directed to West Michigan Hospice.
