Bruce Andersen

Bruce “A” Andersen, age 86 of Stanton, passed away at his home on Friday, March 17, 2017 under the loving care of his wife and Spectrum Health Hospice.

He was born the son of Arnold & Carrie (Wood) Andersen on August 26, 1930 in Lakeview, Michigan. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents as well as his sister, Joan Strickler.

Surviving Bruce is his wife of 65 years, Lois; daughters, Carol Andersen, Ph.D. of Highland, Kansas, Regina (Daniel) Trann of Belding; son, Col. Arden (Lisa) Andersen, Ph.D., D.O., MSPH, of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Mary (Jason) Waddell, Elizabeth (Joe) Adams, SSgt. Lucas Trann, Matthew (Allyson) Trann, Michele (Nathan) Andersen-Heroux; step-grandchildren, Hollie (Tracy), Casey, Emerson; four great grandchildren; brother, Arnold (Linda) Andersen of Greenville; a special nephew Rob as well as many other nieces and nephews and special friends, Barry and Mark & Janet.

Bruce was a long time dairy farmer in the Stanton area who was very active in many different organizations. He was a member of the Stanton Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Sheridan VFW and served on many different boards in Douglas Township. He served our country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the Army’s Special Ops. When he wasn’t busy farming or volunteering his time, Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing the organ and violin, woodworking, gardening and going square dancing. Bruce will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation with Bruce’s family will be on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 from 10 to 11 AM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with funeral services beginning at 11 AM. Final interment will be at South Sidney Cemetery.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Bruce’s memory the family suggests memorial donations be directed to either the Sheridan VFW Post 5065, Stanton Masonic Lodge 250 or Spectrum Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
