Betty J. Shaw, age 86, of Fenwick, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 16, 2021.
Next to her love of Jesus, Betty’s most important thing in her life was her family. She loved them dearly and treasured doing things with them, for them, and being around them. Every kid, grandkid, great grandkid, and many other family members all have mittens Betty knitted for them. Betty was also very active in the church and was a member of the Kingsley Baptist Church for 26 years, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a Joy Club leader and Counselor at Lake Ann Camp. For 42 years, Betty was a member of Shiloh Community Church, where she also sang in the choir, helped with vacation Bible School, and taught Sunday School. Betty also enjoyed bowling in her woman’s league, deer hunting, and fishing.
Surviving Betty is her husband, Bob Shaw; daughters, Sally (Dave) Brautigam of South Boardman; Charlene Doty of Kingsley; Susan (Dave) Bowen of Alabama; sons, Glen (Pam) Roop of Kingsley, John (Pam) Roop of Florida, Eric (Denise) Shaw of Greenville, Kent Shaw of Greenville; grandchildren, Josh (Courtney) Brautigam, James (Silver) Brautigam, Jason (Teresa) Brautigam, Jeromy (Nicole) Brautigam, Jenifer (Justin) Wolf, Rick (Mary) Doty, Casie (Ben) Summerfield, Jessie (Dave) Bott, Amiee (Dan) Erfourth, Chad Roop, Jess Lewis, Chad Lewis, Mitchell Shaw, Kelsie Shaw, Serena Allen, Samantha (Gary) Mitchell, Caroline Cantu; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; sisters, Velma Parker of Owosso, Pat Jacobs of Lansing, and brother, Earl Houghton of Traverse City.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Norva (Weaver) Houghton; her first husband, Glenn Roop; sister, Barb Roop; brothers, Bill Houghton and Milo Houghton; son-in-law, Dave Doty; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Betty’s life is being celebrated on Friday, August 20th at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.).
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 12 Noon. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon with Pastor Mark Shaw officiating. Graveside services are being held at 2:30 PM at Clear Lake Cemetery.
