Barbara Jean Norcross (Schiesel)

Barbara Jean Norcross, age 72, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at her home in Stanton.

She was born the daughter of Ralph & Janet (Tessman) Schiesel on December 16, 1943, and they have preceded her in death as well as her brother, Ralph William Schiesel, Jr. and a niece, Patty Faulkner.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 51 years, Wally Norcross; two daughters, Kelly (Chad) Curtis of Edmore, Kristi (Jason) Wernholm of Six Lakes; two sons, Kurt (Dinah) Norcross of Mt. Pleasant, Kevin (Kassie) Norcross of Cedar Lake; grandchildren, Scott, Cristina, Zack, Jake, Kaitlin, Kloie, Fletcher, McCoy and her sister, Judy (Dewey) Olson of Sparta, Wisconsin.

Barbara was a fun loving, spirited person who loved people. She was a joy to be around and was a very giving person. She loved to shop, especially when she could find a good deal and many times she would buy things just to give them away to other people. She was a good cook and no one left her house hungry. She loved children and enjoyed teaching them. Her family was her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation with Barbara’s family will be on Sunday, February 21, 2016 from 10 AM to Noon at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Memorial services for Barbara are also being held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ionia, beginning at 1 PM with Pastor Jim Micheff officiating. Final interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara’s family is asking that memorial donations be made to the Ionia SDA Elementary School Worthy Student Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
