Obituary for Arlene Greenhoe

Arlene J. Greenhoe, age 78 of Sheridan passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

She was born the daughter of Arlington & Mildred (Wager) Petersen on March 3, 1939 in Montcalm County and they along with her brother, Ernie Petersen; sister, Jean McCully and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Russell & Bernadine Greenhoe precede her in death.

Arlene is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas Greenhoe; sons, Allen (Susan) Jensen of Lansing, Kevin (Shelley Petersen) Greenhoe of Sheridan; sister, Avis Williams of Stanton; brother, Harold (Cyd) Petersen of Ionia; grandchildren, Nathan (Melissa), Melissa (Josh), Nicholas, Sarah (John); great grandkids, Autumn, Michael Ryan, Matthew, Bobby, Hadley and her nieces and nephews.

Arlene dedicated her life to making sure the tummies of thousands of Stanton kids were full, with made-from-scratch lunches she made for over 30 years as a cook at Stanton Elementary School. She had a beautiful voice and sang for years with a group close to her heart, the Harmonetts, and in her church choir. She was a member of the Stanton First Congregational Church as well as a longtime member and cook at the Stanton American Legion and loved spending her Wednesday afternoons with the girls and Friday’s at the beauty salon. Her whole heart and every ounce of love in her she dedicated to her family. She cooked for an army for every holiday gathering and she never missed a sporting event, music concert, or play for her grand and great grandchildren. Her love for U of M was loyal and she was a beautiful quilter making sure each child in the family had one from her. She had a way of making you feel like part of the family no matter where you were from and made sure you always had a care package to take home. She spent her summers at Crystal Lake and enjoyed her annual anniversary casino trip with Tom and her brother and sister-in-law. She was a gentle woman with a huge heart and will be deeply missed by everyone.
