Obituary

Sheila (Maxon) Porter, age 46, of Fenwick, won her fight against ALS and was freed from her pain and suffering on Friday, October 30, 2020, passing away at her home under the loving care of her family and Heartland Hospice.

Sheila was an adventurous person by nature and always up for a good trip. She enjoyed the peacefulness of getting away from the world and going to explore new places with her husband Travis. She loved watching basketball and going to baseball games with her family. Sheila loved all sorts of music but going to country music concerts was probably her favorite. She really liked learning about ships and the various shipwreck in and around Michigan. She also enjoyed camping and fishing with Travis and going on motorcycle poker runs to support various causes. However, the thing Sheila loved and cherished the most was being a mom.

Surviving Sheila is her mom, Laura Edgerly of Orleans; husband, Travis of Fenwick; daughters, Cassandra Jaquayes (Kaitlyn Cinelli) of Grand Rapids; Katelyn Maxon of Fenwick; Taylor Sooy of Stanton; sister, Shawn Maxon of Stanton; brothers, Anthony Grandetti of Orleans; Phil (Nikki) Maxon of Stanton; life long friends, Kory Higgins of Gowen; Amy Sova of Cedar Springs and a very large extended family and lots of friends.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Herman Maxon; stepfather, Gailen Edgerly; and grandmother, Rose Grandetti.

Graveside services for Sheila are being held on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Evergreen Township Cemetery beginning at 1 PM.

My condolences to the family. When loosing a loved one it can be unbearable. That is why God has provided scriptures in the Bible to help ones cope with the loss. In the Bible book of Isaiah 25:8 Jehovah God promises soon to "swallow up death forever." He also promises to bring back those who have fallen asleep in death (Acts 24:15). In a little while longer this kind of pain will be a thing of the past (Revelations 21:4). May these scriptures bring you comfort in this difficult time (jw.org)
