Obituary

Robert C. Erskin, age 88 of Sheridan, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Sheridan. He worked for and retired from the Michigan Department of Corrections. Throughout his life, his building trade skills and tireless work ethic combined to establish his reputation as a successful local entrepreneur and businessman.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy, was a member of the Sheridan VFW Post 5065, and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Stanton. When Bob finally did retire, he remained very active, taking up golf along with various other hobbies. He and his wife, Ginny were loyal snowbirds for 30+ years, enjoying the warm weather in Largo, Florida.

Surviving Bob is his wife of 66 years, Ginny Erskin; sons, Greg (Cheri) Erskin of Ocala, Florida and Kevin (Dilia) Erskin of Seminole, Florida; grandchildren, Jesse (Jennifer) Erskin; Kelly (Lupe) Olvera; Josh (Jutta) Amrhein; Dereck (Amanda) Erskin; Colby (Mokshada) Erskin; seven great grandchildren; brothers, William (Joann) Erskin of Clare and Phil (Julie) Erskin of Greenville and brother-in-law, Jim Whitcraft of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar & Marguerite (Tousley) Erskin and his sister, Suzzane Whitcraft.

A memorial ceremony celebrating the life of Bob is being held on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.) beginning at 11 AM with Pastor Shane Vande Vrede officiating. Graveside ceremonies for Bob will be held at the Evergreen Township Cemetery at 2 PM on Saturday, July 20th.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Bob’s memory the family asks you direct them to either the First Baptist Church in Stanton or Spectrum Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

I'm so sorry I can't make it to the service as I cannot tolerate the humidity. I would have loved to be there to needle you for one last time. I enjoyed knowing you.
