Obituary for Michael Preibe

Michael J. Preibe, age 51 of Hastings, entered paradise on Sunday, July 5, 2020. As Jesus promised the man next to him on the cross, by telling him “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise,” (Luke 23:43 NASB) we all rejoice in knowing Michael is in Heaven with God.

Big Mike, as he was known, was an amazing and talented man; his artistic skills and abilities were phenomenal, and there was nothing he couldn’t build with his hands. Big Mike loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was very giving and would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Mike was a very loved man and he will be deeply missed by everyone.

Surviving Mike is his mom and step dad, Darlene & Jack Wright of Bushnell, Florida; children, Sean & Victoria Porter of Raeford, North Carolina; Jesse Preibe of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Gabriel Taddei of Owasso, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kacy; Chloe; Abigail; Laynie; Josephine Porter all of Raeford, North Carolina; brothers and sisters, Angel & Bill Thrush of Toledo, Ohio; Heather & Chris Ross of Orlando, Florida; Patrick Preibe of Deltona, Florida; Matthew; Miranda; Holly; David and Lucas Wright all of Bushnell, Florida.

Mike was preceded in death by his dad, Patrick Preibe; stepfather, Gary Schindler and cousin, James Baker.

A private family memorial service honoring Mike’s life will be held at a later date.

There is a truth about addiction and that it is a family disease. While only one person may be using, it is everyone in that family who suffers. Brene Brown once said, “When we deny the story, it defines us. When we own the story, we can write a brave new ending.” If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, in honor of Mike, please ask for help, there are lots of people who care and love you. The number for the National Helpline is 1-800-662-4357.

And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he was saying, “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!” And He said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23: 41-43 NASB)
