Obituary

Jody L. Blonshine, age 52 of McBride, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant after a brief battle with cancer.

A wonderful and loving Mom, Jody was very proud of her daughter Lynsey and all her accomplishments. As the Lakeview Youth Bowling Coach/Manager at the Lakeview Alley Cat, Jody was also affectionately known and referred to as “mom” by many others. She loved animals, especially skunks and rescued countless cats and dogs throughout her life. Jody loved her family and was a very proud aunt. She was Eric Church’s #1 fan and thoroughly enjoyed going to many of his concerts. Each year, Jody looked forward to traveling with her daughter to Mackinaw City and the bridge, which was her “happy place”. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of her family and she will be deeply missed by everyone.

Surviving Jody is her daughter, Lynsey Blonshine of McBride; sisters, Debbie (Dan) Bunn of Lansing; Lori Ganser of West Virginia; brother, Gary Blonshine of Lansing; nieces, Kim (Joe) Seegraves of Shepherd; Emmi (Jon) Reel of Rockford; Kellie (Jeff) Glennie of Mulliken; Rebekah Blonshine of California; nephews, Matt (Vanessa) Blonshine of Lansing; Dan Bunn of Lansing; many great nieces and nephews; close friends, Stacey Jaquays of Coral; Beth Elliott of Haslett; Paul & Kathy Wood of Lansing; her five “fur babies”, Patches; Gonzo; Oliver; Cheshire and Finn and all of her Lakeview Youth Bowling kids.

Jody is preceded in death by her parents, Ray & Alice (Armstrong) Blonshine and a sister-in-law, Connie Blonshine.

A celebration of Jody’s life is being held on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Stanton (225 W. Cedar Street) from 2-5 PM, where you are free to come and go as your schedule allows.

Jody’s family would also like to invite everyone to the “Jody Blonshine Memorial Bowl” which is being held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 12 noon to 3 PM at the Lakeview Alley Cat Bar & Grill (9775 N. Greenville Road, Lakeview).

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Life is never supposed to be cut so short. While words cannot express the pain we feel when we lose our loved ones in death, the promise God gives us in Isaiah 25:8 can bring us much comfort where it says he “will swallow up death forever and wipe tears from all faces.” In the very near future, God has given us much to look forward to. We will soon be reunited with our loved ones by means of a resurrection, right here on earth. (Acts 24:15) Until that time, keep close to your hearts the memories of Jody and the time spent together. May the “God of All Comfort” be with you in this time of great sadness. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4)
