Obituary

Edward M. Ehle, Sr., age 92 of Sidney, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 12, 2020, under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.

Ed was a guy who was constantly on the move and doing things. He was a truck driver for 42 years and when he wasn’t hauling products you could find him working on his farm where he raised cash crops, cattle, and his haflinger draft horses. Ed really liked going to the Upper Peninsula and was proud that he was able to drive his tractor over the Mackinaw Bridge to the UP 10 times. He was an avid collector of antique tractors, he loved his Massey Harris tractors, going to tractor shows and was a member of the Old Iron Tractor Club. If Ed saw you across the room or out the window, it didn’t take long for him to acknowledge you with his signature pointing finger wave. But the one thing Ed loved above all else was his family, especially his kids and grandkids and spending time with them.

Surviving Ed are his daughters, Mary Jane (Darwin) Petersen of Sidney and Sharon (Garry) Barnaby of Sumner; sons, Edward Jr. (Michele) Ehle of Sidney and Michael (Ruth) Ehle of Sidney; grandchildren, Paul Petersen of Stanton; Patrick Petersen (Holly Moreland) of Stanton; Andrew (Katie) Krause of Greenville; Brandy Krause of Washington State; Neca Ehle (Shawn Rosenbrook) of Fenwick; Edward III (Jennifer) Ehle of Lakeview; Kendra Mosqueda of Sidney; Trevor (Heather) Wireman of Stanton; Tim Cashen of Grand Rapids and Todd Cashen of St. Louis; 20 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Niswonger of Ohio and Margaret (Gilbert) Morris of Fenwick; brothers, Fred (Joyce) Ehle of Sheridan; Eugene (Rose) Ehle of Stanton and Milo (Molly) Ehle of Sidney; sisters-in-law, Diane Baty of Arizona and Rosie Ehle of Palo; brother-in-law Fred Webb of Stanton and lots of nieces and nephews.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Merle & Ludell (Peterman) Ehle; his wife of 53 years, Donna (Webb) Ehle; daughter, Linda Myers; stepmother Dorothy Ehle; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ken & Dorothy Webb; son-in-law, Curt Myers; sisters, Pat Hopkins and Joyce Wallace; his brother, Bernard Ehle and brothers-in-law, Albert “Buck” Hopkins; Don Wallace; and Bob Niswonger.

Visitation and funeral services for Ed will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at his home located at 2426 W. Hansen Road in Sidney. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1 PM with the funeral ceremony beginning at 1 PM with Gilbert Morris officiating. Graveside services will be at Sidney Cemetery starting at 2:15 PM.

For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Ed’s memory the family suggests you direct them to Spectrum Hospice. Envelopes will be available at his house on Thursday.
