Marlene L. Bracey

Marlene L. Bracey, age 74, of Sheridan, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Metron of Greenville with her family at her side. She was born on March 10, 1936 in Sheridan, the daughter of Elmer & Lillian (Hodges) Houghton.
On December 31, 1954, Marlene was married to Edward L. Bracey and together they have shared over 56 years of marriage.
Ed survives in addition to their children, Debra & Jerry Densmore of Rapid City, S. Dakota, Penny & Pat McLeod of Kentwood and Dennis & Lisa Bracey of Crystal plus 5 grandchildren, Amanda & Dan Larson, Meghan & Ian Grant, Amber & Eric Gall, Nicole Bracey and Jacob McLeod and 4 great grandchildren, Jackson, Ethan, Owen and Coen. In addition 1 sister, Elaine & Marvin Johnson of Sidney, 1 brother, Merlin Houghton & Judi Wilson of Stanton, 1 sister in law, Virginia Knepper of Sheridan and a brother in law and his wife, Richard & Helen Bracey of Sheridan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a half sister, Elinor Staines and a half brother, Richard Houghton.
Marlene has been a lifelong resident of the Sheridan area. She drove bus for the Central Montcalm Schools for 30 years, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and following her retirement, spending winters in Florida.
Funeral services will be held at the Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sheridan.
Visitation with the family will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 until 7:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial considerations to the Central Montcalm Community Foundation or Hospice. There will be envelopes available at the funeral home.
